It’s February, so it must be time to make garlic powder!
A quick overview on how we make powder
Of course, we separate and peel the cloves. We freeze them and then blend the frozen cloves in our VitaMix, using the wet container. A stuffed one gallon freezer bag of cloves will yield enough for a full freeze dryer-using our medium Harvest Right. We add 2-3 cups of water per container-full of cloves to prevent them from clogging the blender. We haven’t chosen to refreeze the garlic at this point in the past, but on the next run we will. The full freeze drier resulted in two gallon bags of “powder”. Those bags will be run through the VitaMix again, but using the dry container.
